Dr. Jamillah Moore - Higher Education Professional and Advocate

Dr. Jamillah Moore is a distinguished higher education leader, scholar, and social justice advocate whose career has been defined by an unwavering commitment to expanding educational access, advancing equity, and promoting student success—particularly for historically underserved, low-income, and first-generation students. A proud alumna of California State University, Sacramento, she holds a doctorate in International and Multicultural Education from the University of San Francisco.

Dr. Moore currently serves as Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management at San Francisco State University, where she provides strategic leadership to enhance the student experience, strengthen enrollment pathways, and remove systemic barriers to access and achievement. Known for her student-centered and equity-driven approach, she collaborates across campus and with community partners to advance institutional priorities, foster inclusive excellence, and inspire high-performing teams committed to student success.

A seasoned executive within California’s higher education systems, Dr. Moore has held multiple presidential and system-level leadership roles, including President of Cañada College, Vice Chancellor for Educational Services and Planning in the San Mateo Community College District, President of Los Angeles City College, and Interim Superintendent-President of Compton College. Across these roles, she has led transformative efforts in student success, workforce alignment, and institutional effectiveness.

Earlier in her career, Dr. Moore brought a policy and advocacy lens to her work through service in the California State Senate and as Director of Governmental Relations for the Los Angeles County Office of Education—experience that continues to inform her ability to navigate complex systems and advance impactful policy solutions.

A respected thought leader, Dr. Moore has contributed extensively to national conversations on equity and higher education, with her scholarship and commentary featured in outlets such as Psychology Today and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
